At last.... Nikki Haley interview shows her (?) true positions re Flag and South

.
VITALLY IMPORTANT NOTICE:
PLEASE SEE FIRST THE INVITATION
TO THIS ORGANIZATION'S
FEBRUARY 17 RALLY IN COLUMBIA --
SECOND POST DOWN ON THIS PAGE

Out of the blue (Thanks, Dixie!) comes this valuable video. The new Governor is interviewed by two voices I'm sure I recognize as old allies in the Confederate Flag cause... and they do an excellent job of politely but effectively drawing Ms Haley out on the issue of all issues in the culture war, the Confederate Flag in front of the most visible side of the S.C. state house.
There's bad news and good news. Ms Haley all but admits to holding the purely PC understanding of the War Between The States (i.e. that in the face of all logic and facts to the contrary, the "Civil War" was needed because everybody is entitled to "equality" and "freedom"), but she soon sees the advantage in declaring (to this particular audience at least) that the Flag "compromise" stands as a done deal and she will take no initiative in changing it. That, of course, could mean that either she won't listen to any idiotic prattle about further sellouts or that she's wide open for (as noted below) the "right" kind of "debate" on it.
But lo and behold, she does mean to get in touch with the the NAACP...... to tell them they need to be more open-minded. If she really cares about the American way of life, one wonders, why doesn't she simply wait for them to call and tell them she'll be happy to talk to them as soon as their they and their comrades apologize for hiding the statue of George Washington at the big black supremacist rally a few weeks ago?
We must assume Ms. Haley is an unfortunate victim of PC brainwashing... and hope that her LIBERALISM is not carved in stone. The comments added to the video typically range from moronic and pigheaded to brilliant and tangy. One of them makes the interesting observation that "Haley’s main opponent, Congressman Gresham Barrett, has an excellent A+ NumbersUSA Career ranking. Immigration damage is a serious economic problem in South Carolina, and America."
Would Barrett have been better? He wasn't perfect and angered many by supporting BushObamanoid "stimulus" anti-economics last year, but he was a reliable pro-Flag S.C. legislator.
And being willing to stand up for the Flag outweighs a great many other considerations in this writer's 'umble but studied opinion.

The South Carolina NAACP honored Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday while simultaneously dishonoring the nation’s first president.

An organized rally — dubbed “King Day at the Dome” — protested the Confederate battle flag on display at the State House in Columbia and featured speakers and guests who called on government leaders to address “racial disparities” in education, health care, community development, criminal justice, employment and economic development in the state. But as a number of local and national speakers stepped forward to speak from the capitol steps, a large bronze statue of George Washington was conspicuously hidden (h/t Atlas Shrugs).

A large box covered with cloth hid the father of the country from view of the rally’s guests:

It‘s not clear why the NAACP insisted on covering up the likeness of the nation’s first president and a spokesman for the organization was not immediately available for comment.

Update: The South Carolina NAACP has responded to a request for comment and said the only reason the statue of Washington was covered up was for aesthetic purposes. “We had created a backdrop behind the speakers,” the group spokesman told The Blaze late Tuesday afternoon, noting that someone in his organization forgot to post an NAACP placard on the backdrop.

According to the group, the statue of Washington has been covered each year for the annual rally. The spokesman said he was “at a loss for words” as to why covering President Washington would offend anyone, claiming it was “non-sensical” for people to believe it may have been politically motivated.

Major event for February: COME RALLY FOR TRUTH in Columbia

The invitation as printed for distribution:

[PICTURE REGRETTABLY DID NOT TRANSFER TO WEB]

above: Columbia on February 17, 1865

EMERGENCY…. CALLING ALL SOUTHERN PATRIOTS

Come to the S.C. Capitol! Help send a message to the Governor, legislature, media & citizens that WE REMEMBER -- and they need to

WHAT: a Rally in remembrance of the Union’s savage burning of Columbia

WHERE: north side of the South Carolina State House

Gervais and Main Streets, Columbia, S.C.

WHEN: 12 noon, Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011: THE 146th anniversary of the crime

We will proceed from the George Washington statue into the rotunda. All interested will meet for 10:30 AM dutch treat breakfast at the IHOP just west of the state house (1031 Assembly St.)

Are you ready for the NAACP to steal our new governor? It’s a done deal unless we join to really make ourselves heard for heritage, honor and historical truth.

The NAACP rallied Jan. 17 and called for removal of the Confederate flag, i.e. the trashing of the “compromise” that was supposed to pacify them. So, what has changed? Don’t they do so every year and meet with pure frustration? Maybe. What’s changed is two words: new governor.

Have you been wondering where Nikki Haley stands regarding Southern heritage? It’s hard to say so far. This from a Jan. 17 AP article, for instance: “During last year's campaign, Gov. Nikki Haley, along with most gubernatorial candidates, said she didn't plan on revisiting the issue. There's not enough support for moving it to bring a healthy debate, she said.”

Is that a no -- or green light to prepare such “debate”? It certainly wouldn’t hurt for somebody to remind Gov. Haley that it wasn’t the NAACP or left-wing media that voted her into office.

We are not in a hurry to condemn her, but we wonder about the nods to PC in her inaugural speech such as “The horrors of slavery and discrimination need not be retold here. They too remain a part of our history and a part of the fabric of our lives.” What about the horrors of the attempted destruction of the entire South 150 years ago and the very real discrimination and bigotry it has endured ever since? Where is mention of them in today’s political discourse?

We hope to work with Gov. Haley. Your support of this effort is invited. Southern movement leaders need to get a group appointment with Ms Haley soon. Let’s do it – this event will be a perfect time to plan it. It will also be a “Keep it Flying” demonstration. The C-Flag must remain on the Soldier’s Monument because the whole South suffered the horrors of the War, not just the soldiers! The NAACP and other “liberals” must get this through their heads.

PLEASE COME. Start SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT THE RALLY TODAY. SEE YOU THERE! Bring your organizational banner and grab all the glory you want. Let’s just get it done.

“The city is built entirely of wood and is in the most excellent condition to burn. The space on fire by midnight had housed thirty-five thousand people. The flames rolled and heaved like waves of the ocean. The scene is splendid, magnificently grand; the scene of pillaging, the suffering and terror of the citizens and of our frantic and drunken soldiers.”
